Camilo

Besides being a passionate language teacher, experienced Rugby player and coach as well as having worked as an International Volunteer for East African countries and volunteer coordinator for intercultural exchange programs, Camilo is the founder and heart of Uganding.

Since 2012, Uganda and its people have been an integral part of his everyday life. It all started with a one year volunteering in the “St. Anthony´s School “ in Kamwenge, where he has been responsible for training and education of the local teachers, inspiring the kids for sports, and especially encouraging the kids from the special needs section that they can do more with their lives than what their families and teachers are telling them.  Having a big heart for the kids in general, he not only wants to support Ugandan kids in their path of growing above their horizons and discovering their true potential, but he also strongly believes that the future of Uganda is strongly impacted by its education, hence the more we share our teaching methods, learning experiences and time with them, the more they will be able to develop and grow on their own in the future.

Anna

Being a passionate world traveler, hobby violinist/sailor/SCUBA diver/photographer and procurement project specialist for a German multinational enterprise, Anna has discovered Uganda in 2019  during a backpacking trip and has seen the potential to actually do something good and make the world a better place for those who have less than us. Hence the idea to contribute and build up Uganding as Co-Founder, CFO and cooperation developer behind the Uganding initiative.

Fred

The friendship and “business relationship” goes quite a while back (to 2013 in fact) and has been fruitful and deepening ever since.

Fred is our local representative and responsible for all transport related topics, as well as our knowledgeable local teammate who advises us about itinerary, accommodation and general travel plans. He is the most amazing local driver you can hope and wish for, who not only brings you from one place to another on gravel roads, through mountains, rain and landslides, but also has the experience and intuition for going on game drives to see animals in their normal habitat. Above all, he watches out for the team and the group as if it was his own family. Fred has five kids who have partially joined us on our previous trips, and love spending time with the Muzungus.

Anka

Good Future and Hope (GFaH, see also “Sponsors and Supporters” page) is our trusted NGO that we are collaborating with. Sports Days and educative activities are planned with GFaH during our trips, and none of this would be possible without our trusted friend and local CEO of GFaH Anka. She has been living in Uganda for more than 5 years, constructing school buildings and dormitories for orphans, hiring and coordinating local teachers, and representing the Ugandan interface to the GFaH founders from Germany. We are very grateful to Anka for her support, her energy and her sheer endless patience of dealing with local authorities, having open ears and arms for more than 200 kids, and never losing hope and good spirits.

Steven

Once you are on a trip with us, you will also have the please of meeting Steven in his natural habitat – the mountains, villages and plantages of Kasese. Although he is the youngest of our team members, he will impress you with his in-depth knowledge about the history and the pecularities of the Crater lakes around Kasese, which he will share with you on a nature walk through banana plantages, to waterfalls and through the village, and during the Boda Boda Tour around the lakes.

If you like, we can finish the tour with a picknick and a little boats tour at one of the Crater lakes.

Lawrence

Our trusted local guide for your boat´s tour to the source of the Nile, Lawrence will not only share his story and some very interesting facts about East Africa and Victoria Lake with you, but he is also going to help you spot some unique birds species as well as lots of other animals living in and around Lake Victoria. You will definitely not get bored during his tour.

Adolf

You probably will not find any other ranger in Uganda that will be equipeed with a book about Ugandan wildlife and topography when going on a Safari. Besides being extremely polite and curious about the world, Adolf has this great intuition of where to find lions, rhinos, hippos and crocodiles. You´ll learn a lot and you will feel well guided having him on board when chasing for great pictures of Ugandan wildlife.

Billy

Our Kamwenge St. Anthony´s sports days would not be the same without our trusted partner for the soccer tournament. Besides being a glorious soccer player himself, Billy is the founder of the “Rising Star Academy”, a local initiative that aims to get kids into sports and part of a team. Within the academy, he is teaching young kids and teenagers soccer techniques, and creates a feeling of team spirit and belonging.

Billy is organizing the soccer tournaments at St. Anthony´s school with us during our trip. A referee, home-made goal posts and field markings, and an award for the winning team are part of the tournaments.
